Introduction

Welcome to the web site of the Old Shirburnian Golfing Society. The aim of the site is to keep Old Shirburnians up-to-date with fixtures and any other relevant information about up-coming events. The OSGS is open to any Old Shirburnian, regardless of age or ability. New members are always welcome.

Fixtures 2012

The fixture card for 2012 was posted out as usual in early January. Be sure to get as many dates in your diary as you can and get your completed tick list submitted as soon as possible so that the managers can get their numbers sorted in good time. Make a note also of the meetings where there are generous prizes on offer; and other events such as the Halford Hewitt, where supporters are always welcome. Click here for the full fixture list.

 

A Brief History

 

In 1929 Tom Parry wrote to 150 OS asking if they would like to

form a golf society. The response was such that the Old Shirburnian

Please send your name, address and cheque for £20 (inc. p&p)

made out to The Old Shirburnian Golf Society.

As an incentive to younger OS, the Society funds two levels of subsidy. Those under the age of 27 on Jan 1 pay a maximum of £30 for golf and lunch, and those under 32 pay a maximum of £60 for golf and lunch. This doesn't include beer or wine but it still represents about the best value around for a days golf on some of the finest courses in the country. Click here for more information
